What are your views on the game against Derry City last Monday?

We take the point and we move on. We could have lost the game; we could have won the game. We had chances in the second half; they had chances in the first half. Like I said, we didn’t start as well as you would have liked, but it happens sometimes. We move on. We finished really strong. Second half, I thought we were very good, which is pleasing to see that we responded from the first half. But yeah, we finished really strong and like I said, maybe could have scored near the end but it wasn’t to be.

There were calls for a penalty in the first half. You’ve obviously looked back at it; how did you see it?

It’s a definite penalty. I said after the game and I still feel that way now, it’s an awful decision from the referee. You can’t be in a better position; you can’t have a clearer view. Wherever angle you look at it, and every time you look at it, it’s a penalty.

We have Galway tomorrow night and they had a very good result against Derry last week. They lost narrowly to Dundalk just before that so they’re coming on sort of a high really, aren’t they?

Yeah, they are. They’ve had a great win last week and look everyone knows that us and Galway they’re always tight games and tomorrow will be no different. They’re a good team and I’m sure we’ll see that tomorrow.

Would you agree that this year is probably the most open campaign we’ve seen for years?

I hear this every year, someone says this to me around this time. It’s June. There’s a long way to go.

Pico and Cape Verde go again on Sunday morning. What’s your views on that?

It’s brilliant. I think they’ll get through. They obviously need to go and get something from that game but I think they’ll get through. Them getting to the knockouts was unheard of before the time.

Have you been speaking to him during the week?

Yeah, just talking to him texting and that, and he’s in a good place. He’s obviously enjoying it, but he would know better than anyone that they’ve still got business to do.

What’s the update on the injury list?

Dan Cleary is probably next week, Danny Grant’s a few weeks, Victor’s a few weeks, Rory’s the same. Maleace is back, and Danny Mandroiu is just waiting for clearance from the medical team for that.
