Stephen McPhail speaks

Follows yesterday’s announcement

Following his decision to step down from his Sporting Director role at Shamrock Rovers, Stephen McPhail spoke to shamrockrovers.ie:

“I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Football club, I’ve had to make the hard decision to step away and it was not one I took lightly.”

“I feel I need a break to refresh and spend some time with my Family. It’s been an amazing 12 years with so many great memories that will stay with me forever.”

“I started my role as Sporting Director with time and support from the Owners and Board Members and I am very grateful to them for the opportunity. Our Chairman Ciarán Medlar has been brilliant to work with, I appreciate his professionalism and help over the years. There are also countless members and volunteers who make Shamrock Rovers what it is, thank you all.”

“Stephen Bradley is a very talented manager and an incredible man. We achieved everything we planned to which I’m very proud of. He is a close friend and someone I hugely respect.”

“He has a brilliant back room staff alongside Glenn Cronin with decent and hard working people. I would also like to thank all the players who treated me with the utmost respect on a daily basis, I feel blessed to be a part of an outstanding group of men. The culture that has been created within the group is very special. I’m really looking forward to seeing them keep pushing boundaries and achieving more success.”

“I’d also like to thank the amazing and loyal fans who have given us special moments and supported us at home and across Europe.”

“I wish everyone in every part of the football club every success going forward. My Family and I look forward to visiting Tallaght Stadium and supporting this great club.

Thanks for everything!”
