Away match broadcast/stream information

Away team has no input

Away match broadcast/stream information

It can be highly frustrating when an away match stream doesn’t deliver as promised by the supplier. All of us feel that frustration when something goes wrong. In these situations, there is little that the home club can do. Below we would like to inform fans of the protocol around European away matches and broadcast rights.

  • The home team own the broadcast rights to their home leg. The away team has no access to the match content.

  • The home club generally partners with a broadcast rights sales agency to act on their behalf and sell the rights for broadcast and streaming.

  • The sales agency then attempts to sell these on to a broadcaster worldwide including the country of their opponents.

  • The decision to stream on a PPV platform is exclusively the domain of the home club. The away club has no control on what platform a stream will be on, the price, the commentators, the stream quality etc.

  • Generally, following receipt of the link from the home club, the away club makes the link to the stream known to their supporters but cannot take any responsibility for the stream thereafter. In this sense, the away club is simply passing on the information.
